Are you looking for an affordable and reliable car to rent on your travels in Tanzania? The Suzuki Escudo is a powerful 4x4 and the car to choose when looking for a reliable budget option. It is sporty, compact, and robust, as well as easy and economical to drive. The Escudo is automatic and shifts manually to four-wheel drive. Fuel consumption is very low compared to the Land Cruiser: around 10-13 km/liter.

Suzuki Escudo Specifications

  • Model: Suzuki Escudo.
  • Capacity: The car can accommodate up to 4 people, but is ideal for 2. When equipped with camping gear, the car is suitable for two people.
  • Gearbox: Automatic.
  • Engine: four-cylinder.
  • Tank capacity: 53 litre.
  • Fuel: Petrol.
  • Fuel consumption: 10-13 km/L.
  • 4-Wheel Drive: Has to be engaged manually.
  • Spare tyres: 1
  • Tyre pressure: 30 PSI front / 35 PSI rear, depending on load. The tyre pressure is already well-adjusted; there is no need to change it yourself.

The interior and tools

  • Pop-up roof: No.
  • Inverter: No. You can charge your USB devices using the cigarette lighter plug (only while driving). 
  • Dual battery (for fridge)No (not possible to add fridge).
  • Water tank: No.
  • A/C: Yes. The car is delivered with working A/C. Please note that we don’t perform field repairs or send a replacement vehicle for an A/C problem. Wiring and piping are sensitive and are affected by bumpy roads and dust. The knowledge and equipment to repair A/C are sadly not available in the field. 
  • Audio: Radio with small speakers, Bluetooth, and USB. We advise bringing your own Bluetooth speaker to enjoy listening to music. 
  • Boot: The boot is small. We advise you to pack your luggage in soft duffel bags as they pack more easily than suitcases. Please pack light 
  • Tent: You can add a ground tent and camping gear to your Suzuki for an additional fee. Check the camp gear list here.
  • Tools: Jumper cables, spanner, tow rope and small jack.
