Off the beaten path - Semuliki National Park

by Marin Ritmeijer System.String[]

Uganda’s most recently gazetted Park is relatively undiscovered by most tour agencies. It is situated within the Albertine Rift and bound to the Northwest by the Semuliki River and the Congolese border of Lake Albert.

The park consists mainly of tropical lowland rainforest. The most popular attraction in the Park is the cluster of hot springs at Sempaya. The park can be visited with a day trip from Fort Portal. The park office and campsite at Sempaya are clearly signposted on both sides of the Semuliki road, roughly 50 km west from Fort Portal. A new upmarket lodge has recently been established in the park, the Semuliki Safari Lodge. Park entrance is a little less than for the other parks - US$ 30 pp per 24 hours.
