How it all started
Roadtrip Africa is established and managed by a few Dutchies based out of Kampala, Arusha, Nairobi, Antananarivo and Amsterdam. Since 2011, we take the lead in catering to the independent traveller, through car & camping gear rental with a big dose of insider travel tips.
It all started in Uganda with Okke and Laura. Some of their friends were coming over to visit and they wanted to explore Uganda at their own pace and at an affordable rate. However, this was not possible as no other company offered reliable car rental for self drive with camping gear and independent travel advice. An idea was born and now, seven years later, we can look back at a very successful start. We have increased our fleet, expanded to Tanzania, Kenya and Madagascar and can count on a growing group of (returning) customers from all over the world.

Coming from either the City centre or Entebbe Road you turn respectively left or right at the junction in Katwe onto Nsambya Road. This road leads to Ggaba Road. Follow Ggaba Road for another 4.5 km. Keep looking right for the International University of East Africa. Shortly after that you will see a Barclays Bank ATM. Turn immediately right when you reach the bank, there is a small tarmac road going down. Then 200 metres down, you find a grey gate on your left. We are plotted at Google Maps and Maps.Me.
